Who are these guys?
Merty & the Monumentals are a 6 piece crew of lifelong musicians. They play just about anything that has a grooving bass line and great guitar licks. There's no primary genre to describe them, fusing Rock, Country, Blues, Soul and some of the classics with tight vocal harmonies and guitar driven melodies, they season well known songs with their own unique flavor.
Born out of a really close friendship, family and many years of playing together in various formats, Merty & the Monumentals found their beginnings in two brothers, Ben (vocals) and Scott (vocals, guitar), and their dad Jimmy (a.k.a Mertz, bass). Jimmy has spent most of his life playing in bands and as a result the two boys were steeped in music from the very beginning. Wanting to put something together, the brothers enlisted their dad to pick up the bass and get behind a mic once again. Nick (drums) had moved to the area a few years prior, with a background in metal, but a love for country and a wide range of diversity on the kit. From day one he was the obvious man for the job. Another close friend, Rob (guitar), was added just a couple months later with very little convincing. Since they already had a long time friendship rooted in music, he was a natural fit. Rounded out by Mike (harmonica, sound) who was a long time friend and fellow musician of Jimmy's, the chemistry was natural and the band was born.
